We read and hear about it everyday in the news; we encounter it in our daily lives.  Sometimes we’re the stronger for it. Usually, we're not.  We argue repetitively. We let issues stew and resentment build. We fight. We litigate.We cut our losses. We end friendships. We disrupt work relationships.

How the Resolution Center Can Help

We provide confidential services to those in Jefferson and Lewis Counties.

We offer mediation services to individuals and organizations in dispute.  Mediation provides the parties involved with an opportunity to broker their own agreement while saving time and money.  Voluntary participation in the mediation process also increases the chance of a win/win outcome for those involved, rather than a court ordered mandate.  These agreements allow parties to avoid or reduce the time they may spend in court.  We sponsor Community Mediation activities that include:

• Interpersonal Conflicts
• Landlord/Tenant
• Special Education
• Custody/Visitation
• Parent/Child

We sponsor the Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program. We recruit, train and support CASA volunteers who speak up for the best interests of abused and/or neglected children in the court system.

We also sponsor the Youth Court program.  Youth Court provides for a positive impact on peers by youth court volunteers  who use restorative justice principles to sentence 1st time offending youth with minor offences to community service activities.

Funding for this agency is provided through: Office of Court Administration, United Way of Northern NY, Office for Children and Family Services, Jefferson County Youth Bureau, foundations and individual donations.
